Joel Selanikio, MD
Joel Selanikio, MD, sees health and healthcare from three sides: as a practicing pediatrician, as a former CDC epidemiologist, and especially as the founder of Magpi, a mobile data platform that was used in more than 170 countries, where he learned how tech companies build products, price them, and compete. That variety of experience lets him see clearly, and explain, why healthcare is getting better and smaller as AI, consumer technology, and prevention move care out of hospitals and clinics, and what that means for health systems, insurers, life sciences companies, and employers. Winner of the Wall Street Journal Technology Innovation Award for Healthcare and the Lemelson-MIT Award for Sustainable Innovation, he has spoken at TED, Davos, MIT, Stanford, HIMSS, and the American Hospital Association, among many other venues.
